Tattoo Aftercare
- For the first week wash the tattoo three to five times daily. (With CLEAN hands, and a liquid antibacterial soap, Dial works great, and cool water. Do this more frequently if your tattoo gets sweaty or dirty.
- After washing your tattoo, pat it dry with a clean paper towel. Allow the tattoo to air dry completely before applying the A&D ointment. Make sure to rub it into the tattoo completely, then rub the excess ointment off with a clean paper towel. It is important to use the A&D ointment for only the first few days and to wipe the excess off. Failure to do so could result in prolonged healing time. After the end of the second day of aftercare, stop using the A&D, but continue washing and air drying the tattoo, substituting a fragrance free hand lotion. (i.e. Curel, Lubriderm) Work a small amount into the tattoo for the rest of the healing time.
- Clothing can irritate your new tattoo during the healing process. It is recommended to keep the tattoo covered from the sun and other elements by clothing. BUT make sure to wear loose, light, and comfortable clothing until the tattoo is healed.
- As it heals, it may start to itch or start scabbing. DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT IT!
- It is not abnormal during the first few days for the tattoo to ooze color nor is it abnormal for the skin to flake or fall off. If there is any loss of color, we will be more than happy to touch up the tattoo with the reciept. Call and make an appointment first though.
- DO NOT expose your tattoo to sun until it is completely healed, and afterwards ONLY if you use a high SPF sun block. Failure to do so may result in fading of your tattoo. If you use a tanning bed, cover the tattoo.
- DO NOT submerge the tattoo in water, which means NO SWIMMING OR BATHS. Showers are fine, just avoid direct contact of the tatto with water. Also avoid steamy hot water.
- DO NOT use Neosporin, hydrogen peroxide, or Vaseline, follow our instructions only.
- Do use small amounts of ointment, but only for a few days, and always wipe the excess off of your tattoo.
